Where Will It End?

I'm curios to know if the music industry is dying. Everything I read is bad. I don't see it getting better anytime soon. Labels are reducing the costs of CDs, artists aren't getting the big advances anymore, more and more artists are trying to get into movies, etc. I saw Brian McKnight on "One-On-One" a little while ago and he said that the platinum selling days of music are gone. He said you have to basically give your music away like flyers and make your living from doing live shows; he went on to say that you can't download or sample live shows. Will it ever turn around? Could we be witnessing the end of the record labels as we know it?
